As churches begin gathering again, I feel compelled to say this: (translation in Espanol below)
Bad things have been happening to faithful followers of Jesus for almost two thousand years.
For them, “faith over fear” didn’t mean faith that nothing bad would happen to them.
Rather, it meant that when bad things did happen to them, they were sure of what they hoped for – that nothing could separate them from the love of Christ that would eventually bring their bodies back from the grave fully healed and restored.
Brothers and sisters, wearing a mask is not a sign of fear. And not wearing a mask is not a sign of faith.
Staying home if you are in a high-risk category is not a sign of fear. Going to a church service when you are sick is not a sign of faith.
If you need a mask to be a sign of something, let it be a sign of submission. To one another, to our governing authorities, and thus, to God. And let your home be a symbol of God’s provision and care.
Our faith in God and our love for one another span more than 6 feet of space. There is still no end to the liberty we have in expressing our faithfulness and love.

Mientras las iglesias empiezan a reunirse de nuevo, siento la necesidad de decir esto:
Cosas malas le han estado sucediendo a los seguidores de Jesús por casi dos mil años.
Para ellos, “la fe sobre el temor” no significaba fe en que nada malo les sucedería a ellos.
Más bien, significaba que cuando cosas malas tomaban lugar en sus vidas ellos estaban seguros de su esperanza- de que nada podría separarles del amor de Cristo el cual eventualmente traería sus cuerpos de vuelta de la tumba completamente sanados y restaurados.
Hermanos y hermanas, el utilizar un cubre bocas no es señal de temor. Tampoco el no utilizar el cubre bocas es una señal de fe.
El quedarte en casa si te encuentras dentro de la categoría de alto riesgo no es una señal de temor. El asistir al servicio cuando estas enfermo tampoco es una señal de fe.
Si necesitas que el cubre bocas sea una señal de algo, deja que sea una señal de sumisión. Sumisión de los unos a los otros, a nuestras autoridades gubernamentales, y por lo tanto, a Dios. Y deja que tu hogar sea un símbolo dela provisión y cuidado de Dios.
Nuestra fe en Dios y nuestro amor los unos por los otros cubre más de 6 pies de distancia No existe aún un fin a la libertad que tenemos de expresar nuestra fidelidad y amor.
